C-47 Jumpmaster Parapack Control Panel
Gift of C. Paul Hilliard, 2006.181
When the Douglas-built DC-3 civilian airliner went to war, the military designated it as the C-47. The planes saw service all around the globe, hauling cargo and passengers. They were also the primary troop carrier for airborne assaults. The C-47 in the museum's collection dropped paratroopers in three airborne assaults, Operations Overlord, Market Garden, and Varsity.
