Developed for the German military in the late 1930s, the 20- liter fuel can was vastly superior to any other fuel container in existence. Allied forces quickly reversed engineered and copied captured examples of the "Jerry Can," "Jerry" being slang for German. The US copies, however, were inferior to the original German design.
