A trouble light, also called a drop light, was issued as part of the maintenance kit for M3 Stuart and M4 Sherman tank crews. The light plugged into a auxillary power supply onboard the tank and was used in vehicle maintenance, and as a general light source both inside and outside the tank in low-light conditions. It is similar to modern trouble lights commonly found in garages and tool sheds today.
