Developed in the early 1930s the Maschinengewehr 34 or MG-34 was the primary machine gun of Nazi Germany at the outbreak of World War II. The MG-34 fired the 8mm Mauser Cartridge at a rate of 900 rounds per minute. As the war progressed, the Germans eventually adopted the more reliable, cheaper to produce, and faster firing MG-42. Nevertheless, production of the MG-34 continued until Germany's surrender in 1945.
