Gift of Vic Reiman, 2009.199.001

Vic Reiman was with the 45th Infantry Division which had been involved in the last fighting in Munich. The 2nd Battalion (179th Regiment), in which Reiman served, was quartered in two buildings that had been the offices of the Nazi Party. Inside Reiman found this teapot. . Such souvenirs, marked with Nazi symbols, were extremely popular amongst US troops, and those with any connection to Adolf Hitler were especially prized.
