Atlantic War Zone Bar and Medal

The US Merchant Marine Atlantic War Zone Bar was awarded to merchant seamen that sailed in the Atlantic Ocean, Gulf of Mexico, Caribbean Sea, and Barents Sea between 1941 and 1945. The US Merchant Marine suffered most of its casualties in the Atlantic War Zone to relentless German U-boat attacks. During the war, mariners received the ribbon bar only. The medal was not struck until 1992.
