Pacific War Zone Bar and Medal

The US Merchant Marine Pacific War Zone Bar was awarded to merchant seaman that sailed to far-flung ports in the Pacific Theater and the China-Burma-India Theater. Although Pacific routes were less dangerous than Atlantic convoy duty, the voyages were long and arduous. It was not uncommon for mariners sailing to the CBI Theater to circumnavigate the Earth, a voyage that took more than six months to complete.
