World War II Victory Medal

The US Merchant Marine World War II Victory medal was established in August 1946. It was awarded to all US Merchant Marine personnel that served aboard a ship for at least 30 days during the war. The US Merchant Marine paid a high price for this medal; more than 9,500 American merchant seamen perished during World War II.
