Paul Hilliard's KA-BAR

Gift of Paul Hilliard, 2006.012.001

The Marine Corp's combat knife, the KA-BAR, was one of the most recognizable weapons of the war. It was a common sight among all Marines, not simply infantryman. Marine rear seat gunner/radio operator Clayton Paul Hilliard wore this knife throughout his service during World War II. Hilliard flew fifty-five missions in a Dauntless SBD-5 Dive-Bomber in support of the US 6th Army during the Philippines Campaign.
