Gift of Andres Guevara, 2009.107.001
Antonio Guevara, Jr. served aboard the USS Jallao (SS-368) as an Electrician's Mate 3rd Class. He remained in the Navy for a brief period after the war, ultimately serving for four years. During World War II, enlisted men wore their submarine qualification insignia, frequently known as the "dolphins," on their sleeves. After the war, as seen on Guevara's jumper, regulations authorized the insignia to be worn on the left breast.
