Major Richard Bong was America's ace of aces with 40 confirmed aerial victories. Bong's luck ran out, however, on August 6th , 1945 when Bong was killed test flying the new P-80 “Shooting Star” jet. The death of Major Bong was front page news across the country. This scrapbook was presented to his widow.
