Jay Bollman's Socks

Gift of Jay Bollman, 2009.561.006

The Bollman Family was interred in the Los Banos Civilian Concentration Camp from July 8, 1944 until February 23, 1945. After liberation they were sent to Bilibid Prison Camp. They were then sent home via San Pedro, California. A pair of child's socks knitted from string by Elise Bollman. A note attached by Elsie Bollman reads “Jay's sox—knitted out of wrapping cord by his mother during interment—about 1944.”
