Kamikaze Fragment

This piece of aluminum belonged to one of the kamikazes that struck the USS Evans on the morning of May 11, 1945. Remnants of paint and other markings are still visible on the fragment's surface. Remains of destroyed kamikazes were sometimes collected by salvage crews and distributed to surviving sailors on the ships which had been attacked.
