Glass fishing floats like these were used by fishermen to hold their nets on top of the water. These were used so often by Japanese fisherman, that they became known as "Japanese fishing floats." The green glass floats were often made from sake bottles. These colorful items used by civilians during WWII were encountered in the Pacific Ocean during WWII and still are being found today.
