American aircraft carriers had complements that included a large variety of aircraft, from dive bombers to fighters and reconnaissance planes. Aircraft had to be constantly maintained to keep them air worthy and Aviation Machinist Mates worked tirelessly to keep aircraft engines maintained and in working order.
