105mm Shell

The National WWII Museum, 2007.265.001

American artillery was crucial throughout the war, and that was no exception in North Africa. The 105mm Howitzer was the most common American artillery piece in WWII. One out of every five shells fired by the US Army during the war was a 105mm high explosive round. The rounds employed were semi-fixed shells which, when fired, had a range of up to 12,000 yards.
