Bracelet of Dominic Martello

Gift in Memory of Dominic Martello, 2013.162

This bracelet, which bears the Italian inscription "Amo," was given to Martello as a sign of love and devotion by his Italian-born mother. Martello served with the C Company, 39th Infantry Regiment, 9th Infantry Division in North Africa and was captured along with several members of his Company near Kasserine Pass after the American defeat there. He spent the remainder of the war in a Prisoner of War camp in Germany, predominantly Stalag IIIB.
