Coat Hanger

Gift of Drs. James and Beverly Shaver, in memory of Larry and Genie Hirshbac, 2011.255.001

this item was recovered by Larry Hirschbach in July 1945. After entering the Reich Chancellery, Hirschbach found what appeared to be a dressing room adjacent to Adolf Hitler's personal office where he recovered this hanger, believed to belong to the Fuhrer himself. It is stamped with the words "Haushalt des Fuhrers Wilhelmatr .77", meaning "Household of the Fuhrer, Wilhelmstrasse 77," indicating the German Chancellor's address.
